Mission Statement

The mission of the Bourbon Public Library is to furnish materials and services for the promotion of education, information, and entertainment for all people.

Circulation Policies

All Bourbon, Etna, and Tippecanoe Township residents must show their current Bourbon Public Library card to checkout materials. PLAC card holders should also have a current Bourbon Public Library Card.

Residents of Bourbon and Bourbon Township may use all materials of the library.

Residents of Tippecanoe and Etna Township may use the library as long as each respective trustee pays for 1 card per family each year to use the Bourbon Public Library.

People of areas other than those listed above must pay an annual fee set by the Bourbon Public Library Board of Trustees or as state mandated.

Reciprocal borrowing is available with the Plymouth Public Library. Patrons must have a current Bourbon Public Library and be in good standing to use this service.

A Public Library Access Card (PLAC) is available for a fee set by the State Library that allows patrons to use any public library in the state of Indiana. Bourbon and Bourbon Township patrons pay only the current fee set by the State Library. This also applies to Etna and Tippecaone Township patrons as long as their trustees pay for their Bourbon Public Library card. All other patrons pay additional fees before getting the state card. The extra fees must equal the per capita that Bourbon and Bourbon Township pay each year for taxes to support the library.

The library currently circulates books, magazines, videos, audio cassettes, CD's and DVD's. Some items are for use in the library only.

Videos and DVDs may be checked out by those 18 years old and older. Two tapes go out for three days only. A $2.00 per day and per tape fine is charged for overdue tapes and DVDs. A $5.00 charge per tape or DVD is charged for dropping videos in drop boxes. Only two videos or DVDs per family and/or household are allowed.

Books, magazines, audio cassettes, and CDs may be checked out for three weeks at a time. A .05 cent fine is charged per day for each book, magazine, audio cassette and CD that is overdue. There is a limit of five magazines at a time.

Internet and word processing are also available.

Outstanding fines must be paid to have computer privileges.

Book drops are on the East door (mail drop) and on the West side of the library.

Copies are available for .10 cents per copy. Internet printing is .25 cents per color copy and .10 cents per black and white copy. Cost of FAX is $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 per page after. A foreign FAX is $4.00 per page outgoing.

Materials that we do not have may be ordered through Indiana Share by the library staff.
